Karen Bennett is Cox Media Group's (CMG) Senior Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer at the company's headquarters in Atlanta. She is a business executive with more than 25 years of Human Resources success at Fortune 500 companies as an architect of human capital strategy and executional plans.

In this role, she provides leadership in developing and executing people strategies that support the company's overall business plan and strategic direction. Karen and her team also focus on talent management and succession planning, performance management, employee development, compensation, benefits administration, employee relations, compliance and best practices in people related policies and procedures. Additionally, Karen oversees CMG Corporate Communications, which includes employee communications, media relations and corporate social media efforts.

Before joining CMG, Karen previously served as Sr. VP and Chief HR Officer for YP (formerly AT&T Interactive and AT&T Ad Solutions), the ninth-largest digital media company in the United States. Prior to joining YP in 2013, Karen was SVP of Human Resources for Turner Broadcasting System, Inc., where she held various roles during her almost 14 years there and where she is credited for helping build and establish many of the HR functions across the various lines of business. Additional career highlights include heading a variety of human resources functions for such companies as Contel, Sprint, Kaiser Permanente, and Sonoco Products.

A native of Atlanta, Karen earned both an Executive M.B.A. and a B.B.A. degree from the Terry College of Business of the University of Georgia. She is certified as a Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) and as a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR). She holds her Executive Coaching certification through the Institute for Professional Excellence in Coaching's (IPEC) ICF-credentialed program. She also serves on the Board of Directors for the Human Resources Certification Institute, the only accredited certification organization for HR professionals (home of the PHR and SPHR) , is on the board of the Human Resources Leadership Forum (HRLF) of Atlanta, and a member of the Georgia State University HR Roundtable. She is the former Board Chairman of Literacy Action, Inc. in Atlanta and a prior Director on the Board for the Cable and Telecommunications Human Resources Association (CTHRA). She also is a former Board member and Director of Mentoring for the Atlanta Chapter of the Women in Cable Telecommunications (WICT), as well as 2007 alum of the WICT Betsy Magness Leadership Institute.
